My Journey: Scoliosis

Scoliosis. This was the doctors explanation to why my dead body looked so weird. As an eighth grader, the concept was a bit severe to grasp. No angiotensin converting enzyme thought I would have health problems; the doctors always said everything was growing normally. So, why was there something equipment casualty with a normal teenager? I was not vatical to be the kid with all the health problems. The next few months of my eighth grade summer went by in a blur. It was full of doctors battles which seemed to go on for hours, MRIs, and a great deal of blood work. The however doctors appointment I completely remember was the last one with the spinal specialist at Childrens Mercy Hospital. This was the appointment in which my surgery was plan. The word, surgery, scared me half to death. Needles were all right with me, but being cut open, not so much. However, it was the only option left considering my spinal curve was up to 71 degrees. Although the surgery cured the scoliosis, the experience was the worst of my life.
My surgery was scheduled for June 2, 2010 and the days up until then seemed to fly by. When we arrived at Childrens Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, the nerves set in. afterward my mom checked me in, we sit in the waiting means for over an hour.

When the nurse came out into the lobby and called the name Mallory Shipley my conduct dropped.
