The surrender of Robert E. Lee on April 9, 1865 marked a major turning point for Capitalism in the United States. The fight left the country open to be formed in whatever way the capitalists molded it into. To industrialize, convince treatment of hired work, continue slavery through hard labor, or to change the way laborers were treated for the better. There were two true roles these capitalists could play, admirable captains of industry or corrupt robber barons. Would they treat the on the job(p) class with honor and respect or would they continue to give birth slaves with annual pay?
The captains of industry resided in twain the coupling and the South, the North was beginning to industrialize and also was the South to that extent for different reasons. The South only wanted to supplement the artless economy that was already in place, they began to mas produce items that could be use on farms. They also began to open mines to supplement the northern firebrand industry. That brand would be used to make tools for farms in the South, indeed completing the circle. Everyone began to work in the South, men, women, and even children were all at work, showing a step towards equality as substantially as showing that the treatment of the working class was mature or otherwise these people would stay at dwelling tending a farm rather than working (Doc B).



The mastermind of the largest steel company in the United States, Andrew Carnegie, resided in the North, where steel was king. Carnegie felt that his duty as a man of wealth was to produce the most beneficial results for the community by tolerant his workers a raise in salary when surplus currency was sent his way (Doc C). Capitalism was alive in both the North and the South and captains of industry or rather superheroes of victory were fighting against corruption constantly.
