The scarlet letter was not merely a fiction written to entertain, tho also to teach different lessons nearly life and also different societies. Hawthorn really emphasized the differences between night and day. The book seems to find a natural two sidedness from even sots that proceed in the day, or in other words, in the prevalent and events that happen in the darkness of night so that others will not know of it. Daylight exposes ones activities devising them vulnerable to punishment. Night, on the other hand, hides and chuck up the sponges activities that would not be affirmable during the day. A good example of this would be when Mr. Dimmesdale meets Hester and Pearl on the scaffold. This would not be tolerated in the light of day. The night is engaging of same safe guard which allows people to act like they want to at that point, but when the sun is out they make believe to put on a face for others.

After version this story I found myself wondering after all that had happened to Hester, why in the world would she want to stay in the town where she is a disgrace? She even was in disbelief when she heard news that they were going to allow her to take of the letter for good.
