FREEDOMReading Graduation by Maya Angelou and Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell has helped me understand the estimate of freedom deeper . I believe that freedom is a powerful that every individual is entitled to just that it also comes with state . In today s world , nations and flocks are free , as compared to earlier clock when powerful nations had colonies and when richer people had slaves . barely organism free is much more than just letting go of slaves and colonies . Freedom is not a given rather , it is a right that must be fought for at completely magazines , at different circumstancesIn Angelou s drool , a whole people were robbed of their freedoms and dreams with a single man s bringing . True , the Afri canister-Americans during that time were slaves , but they had their own moments of celebration and dreaming , moments filled with wish . Even when their social conditions did not permit them to fully make merry and exercise their freedoms , their minds were free sanctuaries where masters cannot occupy . Unless they let them . Angelou s story shows how a biotic community s hopes were trampled with a single man s speech made to bring their feet back on the ground as their heads are lost in the clouds . Here is a community and they cannot defend themselves from one man - the culture of subservience has been so ingrained in them that they began to see themselves as how differents saw them . But somehow , they pulled themselves up . By singing their own anthem , they took back the little freedom they had , and continued to dream of a better tomorrow . In their hearts and minds , they carried within them all the hopes , sorrows , and dreams of every black man and woman that came before them , and want to walk farther than them so that others who will follow and can go much farther too .
They knew that more in all probability than not , they will be working as farmhands and maids slaves , but they found solace in the words of their poets and artists in their traditions , in their shared songs and stories . They kept room for hope , and passed it on . They did not let their reality and the color of their skin determine the glut and quality of their dreams , and that is what eventually enabled them to regain their rights in societyIn contrast , in Orwell s story he was part of the ruling class - a representative of the colonisers among hundreds of Burmese under their control . And yet he found out that it was the other way around - he was no master , just a nominal colonizer , because he has to do what is expected of him by the natives even though that is not what he wants . He realizes that their hold and control is trap because in truth they the colonizers , are the ones who always have to build themselves to the natives and consequently give in to pressure and not the other way around . Orwell wrote that by himself...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website:
