Over the year bon ton has passed judgment on and expressed many views about incapacitate volume. People save held many misconceptions, and have stereotypic the handicapped. Sometimes not knowingly we often assume that alone disabled people are at the same direct of impairment.
It took several years for ball club to realize that people with disabilities have different need levels and different types of disabilities. People with disabilities in chivalric years were often displayed in the carnival shows as sympathetic exhibits and their differences were used to support family members or caregivers. People in the ahead of time days with disabilities were not considered competent enough to be a part of society and often shunned.
The disabled were regularly excluded from natural society and kept with their own kind. Any recipe accomplishments made by people with disabilities were looked upon as extraordinary. It wasnt until approximately the mid 1940s, that concepts of people with disabilities started to change. As doctors began to ask more involved and curiosity began to grow among society did people start to realize that the disabled where human also and really had feelings too.
Some disabled people were seen as pathological, patients that could be hard-boiled and cured and many experiments took place.
Some experiments were successful, and some not so successful. The disabled were lock up secluded and feared by society. The freak sideshows were still in place and considered repulsive by some, but the disabled were still locked away to protect the normal people from danger.
Universities during the 60?s and 70?s became places that supported the disabled and protested against excluding them from society and the negative attitudes toward the disabled. They were the first to attempts to develop an awareness of societys distortion and misconceptions about the disabled.
